In The Beginning .

The early - mid The Eighties saw the birth of No Favors .
The first line up to produce a surviving demo ( featured on the CD ) was :
                 Nick Bowers  = Vocals/Guitar
Dave Cotteril = Drums (if anyone has a photo , please get in touch )
                    Carl Ogden = Guitar
 Colin ( Wink ) Watson = Bass

The Song  " It Doesn't Matter " was recorded on a 4 track at Nicks flat ( above a shop in Alsager S-O-T ).

Dave Cotteril left the band and was replaced by Carl's Brother Neil Ogden . This line - up remained constant and the band found themselves an Image . The evening dress coat ( the Tails ) became the focal point of the bands on-stage attack . They were hot /heavy , but they looked the bit .This Image was to remain and give the band a unique identity .To this day I still don't know who washed them after every Gig .
Amongst the local ( S-O-T ) following / punters / fellow musicians , the band were given a ( witty ) nick -name = ZZ Favors . The comparison to ZZ Top was well documented , as the live set included 2 ZZ numbers , and a Blackfoot Belter " Train Train " .
I first set eyes on them at Shelleys Night Club in Longton ( S-O-T ) . Carl finished the encore " crashing " through the back door straight on to the stage ,Riding the  LOUDEST Motor Cycle iv'e ever heard . To this day the track " One Fine Day " sticks in my mind  = if we can do this one on the 18th then i will be more than happy .

Exactly One Week later , ( at the same venue  - and after finishing a gig with my band ) I was approached by Nick ,
Carl and Neil .                I Joined No Favors .

I had Tails Surgically Attached , a Demo tape thrust into my hand , a couple of practices with the band -
then thrown in at ( the very Deep end ) STAIRWAYS
Nightclub in Birkenhead . I managed to screw up the
easiest ZZ Top number , but no-one noticed .
