So Near - Yet !!
![]() SO NEAR-YET .!! WithTim & Dave we concentrated on the Gigging side of life . I took over vocals , and over a period of time my voice started to suffer . Dave ( brilliantly ) became the dual vocalist - and at one London Gig ( Stick of Rock - Bethnal Green ) Dave had to do nearly all the vocals , as we were being reviewed by ( Metal Forces Magazines ) Dave Shack . Strangeley enough we realised that by constantly bombarding the Magazines & gigging in London we made more " headway " . The press gave us more attention , as articles and photo's could be regularly seen in KERRANG etc . For a while we didn't record any new material - believing that our Back- catalogue was good enough for the A&R men .
The time that Tim & Dave spent with the Band couldn't be properly documented without mentioning the looks of Amazement ( on all our faces ) whilst on the way to a Gig at Buckley TIVOLI . We pulled up to some traffic lights near Chester and we spotted a coach full of ( at first glance ) Ladies . After exchanging a Moon or two , the Schoolgirls upstaged us !!!!!! . A very uplifting experience .
We played every two weeks at The Zoo - always on a Sunday . Sometimes we even got paid - Just kidding .
![]() Dave left and we decided to carry on , and enlisted a Guitarist Friend of mine Steve Jones ,
The second time we played Congleton Town Hall ( to raise money for the GB wheelchair Rugby team ) i had a novel way of raising extra cash .I had a sponsored TATTOO done .Rumour has it that i'm having Sean Penn Tattooed on the other Cheek !!
We used the worlds most Awesome Drum Raiser
made by Tony Proctor & Me at Dales Eng .
Tim Bedson left and was replaced by one of Steves ( former
Bands ) drummers - Kev Dickens .
Our music was taking a slightly different path than that of old = sounding more like Aerosmith .Our first Single ( Destiny ) was released on a local Record company Scarecrow run by John Steele - but unfortunately it didn't receive good press coverage , ( but never the less ) it was a Milestone . Me & Steve covered the whole of London ( the weekend Madonna played Wembley ) visiting Record compnies and promoters . These were the times when we broke the attendance Record at The Wheatsheaf ( Stoke ) .
Steve Jones left the band , and Dave day returned with ( former ) USI frontman Steve Johnson . We recorded the Hamburg - epic " Take Me Back " for the Scarecrow compilation album , along with a Re-mix of the Standard " Are You Lonely ". It was mutually agreed between all parties that if anything came along for Steve / Dave , then they were free to persue their goals . You Scratch my Back ; etc . We played some great gigs over a short period , I went back to doing what I do Best = Backing Vocals , so I was more than happy .
The inevitable happened , and Steve left .
We all sort of drifted apart .
Carl , Neil & Dave went on to play in HOPE & GLORY - and BITE . I Retired ( bad move ) - until
Chris Shaw Turned up with another of his GOOD Ideas . Sat 18th Nov 2000 Kings Hall Stoke = The Big Weatsheaf Reunion .
Nice - One CHRIS .
